To The End Of The Road

The last time Cystic Fibrosis Australia (CFA) worked with Nathan Charles was on the extremely successful Rugby for Research corporate lunch in September this year. Nathan has represented our cause a number of times and he's always doing us proud.

I remember when we wrapped up Rugby for Research I was stunned by the depth and scope of the conversation between our panellists. A light-hearted discussion about Rugby soon branched out through adversity, disappointment, hope and new horizons.

Nathan's experiences as a rugby player with CF are unique, but they also belong to a common theme of physical and spiritual struggle that unites human beings everywhere.

The conversation that afternoon even briefly touched on Australian history and the legacy of Kokoda. Rob Horne, one of our other amazing panellists, had already completed the trail. Nathan mentioned how important it was to him and confided that the Kokoda track was a great ambition of his.

Well here is some amazing follow through. Nathan has planned a trip to Papua New Guinea (PNG) to tackle Kokoda and CFA is going with him.

Participation in the legendary Trek for CF Research costs about $5,200 per person. That price includes Trek Land Content of $3,700 (includes PNG flights and flights ex-Brisbane) and a $1,500 minimal tax deductable donation to CF research.

This is a great deal as the average Kokoda trip costs significantly more, but the hard work starts before we even set foot in the jungle. CFA challenges all Trekkers to meet and exceed the fundraising minimum.

Walking Kokoda is an incredibly rewarding - even life changing - experience, but it is not for the faint of heart. Experience tells us that courageous acts like this are what it takes to really raise awareness and fund research. There is so much good you can do by joining us on this voyage or by supporting Nathan’s efforts by donating to https://donate.grassrootz.com/cysticfibrosis/nathan-charles-kokoda-trek.

Anyone who knows CFA knows that we stand behind our own, and everyone who knows Nathan Charles knows that he won’t quit. So, come along to Kokoda and proudly stand with us to the end of the road.
